Meet Clare Cooley! Clare is a writer/producer originally from Tuscon, Arizona but has lived in many places including San Francisco and currently Duluth. She is developing a series based on her memoir and has an incredible list of dream collaborators!
Where are you from originally and where are you currently based?
Tucson, AZ, but I lived in many places with my nomadic family. I chose San Francisco to be my home for many years before moving to Duluth in 2015.
What project are you currently working on? What is your role in the project?
We are developing an episodic series, The Life of Clare, based on my memoir, Incandescence: Rising Above Darkness.
Do you have a favorite hat under the “creator” umbrella?
My favorites would include “writer” and “producer,” but I call myself a “Creative Generalist.”
What were your earliest inspirations? How did you get started as a creator?
My dysfunctional upbringing gave me the advantage of no one noticing me disappearing from school starting at seven years old. Instead of going to school, I would escape into nature and my imagination. My earliest memories were creating everything from dances to arranging objects I would find in nature.

Hayao Miyazaki, Wes Anderson, Peter Jackson & Tim Burton
If you had to give one piece of career advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Know you are giving the world your best.
What’s your creative superpower?
The only mastery I seek is being the best me I can be and helping others express their authenticity.
